DRD organizes a lot of activities regarding hearing disabilities, which include:
1. Hearing disability counseling:

You are born as a person with a hearing disability, you are hard of hearing or you have developed hearing impairments later in life. You are lonely and sad; no one can understand what you are feeling. You are worried about your future, about what you should learn and what job you should pursue?
You are the parent of a child with hearing disability. You are more worried about your child’s future than about yourself, but there are certain things that are out of your control…Fortunately, your child was able to find assistance and help at an early stage, and he or she can hear well and can speak. Does he or she still need to learn sign language? At what age would it be most beneficial to start learning sign language? Your child is starting to integrate itself into the society; do you need to talk to his or her teachers?
When you come to DRD, other people with hearing disabilities will be available to listen to you and share your concerns. In addition, you will receive counseling and advice on what is best for your current and future life.

2. Educational enrichment for adults with hearing disabilities:

Extension classes for adults with hearing disabilities who went to schools for children with hearing disabilities in Ho Chi Minh City for about 1-2 years and are still unable to read or write.
Classes are taught from 8A.M. to 9:30A.M on Sundays.
Location: Disability Resource and Development (DRD). The Open University 134/1 Thanh Thai, Ward 12, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City.

3. English classes for people with hearing disabilities:

There is an elementary English class for people with hearing disabilities and an intermediate English class for people who are hard of hearing.
Time: 8A.M. – 9:30A.M. every Sunday.
Location: Disability Resource and Development (DRD). The Open University 134/1 Thanh Thai, Ward 12, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City.

4. Elementary Sign Language classes in Ho Chi Minh City for people with no hearing disabilities:

Students who would like to participate in the sign language classes in Ho Chi Minh City need to complete the Application Form and send an email with the form attached to phuonghanh@drdvietnam.com or info@drdvietnam.com.

The class will last for two months. Classes are on Sundays in the afternoon or evening weekdays on demand. Tuition is 50,000 VND/ month. Students will pay the tuition directly to the teachers, DRD does not accept tuition from students.
Location: Disability Resources and Development (DRD). The Open University 134/1 Thanh Thai Street, Ward 12, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, DRD is happy to organize sign language classes at DRD’s office, the Open University 134/1 Thanh Thai Street, Ward 12, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City.) for students at universities or secondary schools, for volunteer groups, for social workers at organizations etc. DRD will also organize classes on demand.

5. The Hearing Disability Group Activities:

Activities include meeting, sharing thoughts, feelings and difficulties and life skills training organized monthly by the Hearing Disability Club of Ho Chi Minh City. Activities will be organized on the Sunday morning of the third week of every month. The club will meet from 8-11.

6. Activities of the Sign Language Organizations:

The purpose of the organizations is:
-Meeting and finding friends.
-Increase sign language vocabularies, helping people communicate well using sign language.
-Helping parents learn more about the Hearing Disability Club in order to help their children.

The participants of the Club are: people with hearing disabilities who would like to learn more sign languages and relatives of people with hearing disabilities.
